Invasive California kingsnake
Understanding trophic ecology of the California kingsnake, a new invasive species in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain)
The objectives of the project are:
-
Compare the trophic niche that is occupied by California kingsnake populations in Gran Canaria
-
Investigate if there are changes in the trophic niche associated with sex and the ontogeny of species
-
Determine turnover rate and discrimination factor for the species, parameters needed for stable isotope analyses
-
Study diet composition using stable isotopes and compare it with results from gastrointestinal content analysis
